BLOWN OUT, featuring members of the mighty BONG, Drunk In Hell, Haikai No Ku, 11Paranoias, Khunnt and pigs pigs pigs, will release their new full-length “Planetary Engineering” on vinyl via Oaken Palace Records!
Blown Out have decided to dedicate their album to the Aye-aye, an endangered lemur species with a crazily long middle finger that can only be found on Madagascar. We are aiming for an early May release and are currently searching for an organization that will receive any donations coming from the sales of this album. Stay tuned!
I am delighted to inform you that over the last weeks we were able to make some massive donations, thanks to your continued support!
Starting with Caudal, we donated another €450 to the Ziesel protection fund of the Austrian Union for Nature Preservation, increasing the total amount of donations made to €830. Have a look at the fantastic donation certificate (click to enlarge):
Next, we donated another £550 of profits from Nadja’s Flipper to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation. £200 went towards our existing adoption of the orca Holly, and the remaining £350 will be used to save the critically endangered New Zealand dolphins (click to enlarge):
Finally, Eternal Tapestry’s fantastic new album Guru Overload has already covered cost and is making quite some profit, so we made a big first donation of £500 to the Orangutan Foundation. The special thing is that we did this during this year’s The Big Give challenge, and the donation got matched and doubled to £1000! Here is the Thank You letter we received (click to enlarge):
I have decided to add cassettes as a format to the label in order to allow less well-known artists and bands to contribute to the cause of Oaken Palace Records, while at the same time keeping costs relatively low to increase the likelihood of donations.
The first artist to release a cassette on Oaken Palace Records doesn’t need a lengthy introduction, though. If you are even remotely interested in Drone music, you will have come across his name several times. I am talking, of course, about thisquietarmy!
“Insect Kingdom” is a live recording that was part of the series “les siestes musicales au royaume des insectes” at Espace pour la vie in Montreal. The profits made from selling this release will be used towards the protection and conservation of insects.
This release will be limited to 100 copies housed in a recycled card sleeve. More info soon!
You can now pre-order Eternal Tapestry’s new album Guru Overload via the Oaken Palace Records shop. If everything goes as planned, album will ship around 26th September.
As always, each copy comes with a free download code. You can also purchase a very limited deluxe edition with hand-made sleeve and hand-drawn artwork – but be quick, there are only 20 copies available!
In addition, the label package has been updated and now includes all 5 releases on Oaken Palace Records. Finally, you can purchase a copy of Guru Overload and get any other release (except special editions and test pressings) for a bargain price.
Just one week after our first donation, I am happy to report that Caudal‘s debut album Forever In Another World is also making profit. Our favourite kraut-droners have dedicated their album to the Ziesel (European ground squirrel), so we donated €380 (£300 / $515) to Zieselschutz, the protection fund of the Austrian Union for Nature Preservation. The money will be used to protect existing habitats, and to create new habitats for the Ziesel all over Austria.
Following in the footsteps of Nadja’s Flipper, this means that every purchase of Forever In Another World via our webshop is equivalent to a donation of £12 (minus PayPal fees) to Zieselschutz. So go ahead and get a copy, if you don’t own one yet! And while you’re at it, make sure to get the Parallel Lines and Plurals LPs as well, so that we can soon start donating for polar bears and bees as well.
Thanks again to all of you who support Oaken Palace Records!
It makes me incredibly happy to report that last Sunday, roughly one year after the release of Nadja’s Flipper, we donated £300 to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation! We made this donation in form of an adpotion of an orca named Holly, as wished by Aidan and Leah.
As almost every small independent label, we went through some hard times and serious doubts since the label was founded, and this is why it makes me even more happy to see that the unique concept of Oaken Palace Records is working out. This would not have been possible without YOU, all the people who bought our releases, read and spread album reviews, etc. – a massive thank you to you all!
From now on, each purchase of a Flipper LP equals a direct donation of £12 (minus PayPal fees) to the WDC. So if you have not bought a copy yet, head over to the shop and help us to raise even more money for the protection and conservation of whales and dolphins!
